Expectations of benefits from the launch of the new iPhone series
LGD's share of annual iPhone OLED panels expected to exceed 30%
LGD's share of annual iPhone OLED panels expected to exceed 30%
[Financial News] As the shipment of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels for iPhone and iPad increases, it is expected that LG Display's performance will improve from the 3rd and 4th quarters.
According to market research firm Ubiresearch on the 21st, LG Display's shipment of iPhone panels in the 3rd and 4th quarters of this year is expected to be 18.5 million units, an increase of about 70% compared to the previous quarter. The shipment of iPad panels is also expected to double from 800,000 units in the 2nd and 4th quarters to 1.6 million units in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
In the 2nd and 4th quarters, LG Display's share of iPhone panel shipments was 21.3%, falling behind China's BOE (22.7%) for the first time. Samsung Display accounted for 56.0% of the market share.
However, this decline in market share is seen as a temporary phenomenon. This is because Apple starts mass production of the new iPhone series in July every year, so shipments naturally increase from the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Accordingly, LG Display's market share in the annual iPhone OLED panel market is expected to exceed 30%. Samsung Display is expected to record a market share of 53.3%, and BOE is expected to record 16.4%.
Han Chang-wook, Vice President of Ubiresearch, analyzed, "As Apple begins mass production of the new OLED model of the iPad Pro along with the iPhone 17 series from July, LG Display's performance will show a clear rebound from the 3rd and 4th quarters." soup@fnnews.com Im Subin Reporter
