[Financial News] Naver is launching a new social networking service (SNS) 'ThingsBook' targeting the North American market.
According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 20th, Naver's US subsidiary YouHub is preparing to launch ThingsBook, a new user-generated content (UGC) platform, in North America. Although the specific launch timing has not been disclosed, it is reported to be aiming for a launch within the year. A Naver representative explained, "A new UGC platform is being prepared in the US," adding, "We cannot disclose the launch timing or detailed information."
ThingsBook is expected to be a platform where users can create content based on their personal preferences and share it with others, similar to Naver's blog service. ThingsBook, which has opened a page on LinkedIn, stated, "It is a new social media platform for recording and sharing the things and experiences you love through personal collections." Currently, ThingsBook is recruiting service ambassadors ahead of its launch.
Since the return of Chairman Lee Hae-jin this year, Naver has been intensifying its efforts in the US market by establishing a local investment corporation 'Naver Ventures' in the US last June and launching services targeting the North American market. Naver aims to secure high-quality data necessary for AI services through the content generated by North American users on ThingsBook. Additionally, with platforms like 'Webtoon' from Webtoon Entertainment, Naver's subsidiary, and the C2C commerce 'Poshmark' acquired by Naver, plans to link these are also being prepared.
