[Financial News] Due to record-breaking heavy rain concentrated in Gyeongnam and Jeonnam since the 16th, 26 casualties occurred nationwide.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters announced that as of 11 a.m. on the 20th, there were 14 deaths and 12 missing persons.

In Sanchung, Gyeongnam, which suffered the most damage, 14 casualties occurred due to landslides and flooding. There were 8 deaths and 6 missing persons.

In Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, 6 people were swept away by torrents and went missing. There were 2 deaths and 4 missing persons.

Additionally, there were deaths in Osan, Gyeonggi (1 person), Seosan (2 people) and Dangjin (1 person) in Chungnam, and 2 people are missing in Buk-gu, Gwangju.

The authorities explained that the number of victims could increase as related agencies such as the Fire Department and the Coast Guard continue to search for missing persons.

Facility damage amounted to 4,154 cases. There were 1,920 cases of public facility damage such as road washouts and river overflows, and 2,234 cases of private property damage such as house and farmland flooding.

The number of residents evacuated from areas under evacuation orders was identified as 13,209 people from 9,694 households in 90 cities and counties in 14 provinces.

Due to worsening weather, 58 flights were delayed or canceled.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the accumulated rainfall by region from the 16th to 5 a.m. on the 20th was recorded as 793.5mm in Sicheon-myeon, Sanchung. It was followed by 699.0mm in Samga-myeon, Hapcheon, 621.5mm in Hwage-myeon, Hadong, 600mm in Docheon-myeon, Changnyeong, and 584.5mm in Haman.

Seosan in Chungnam also received 578.3mm, and Bongsan-myeon, Damyang in Jeonnam received 552.5mm of rain.

The daily rainfall until 10 a.m. on the 20th was concentrated in the metropolitan area with 197.5mm in Gapyeong, 178.5mm in Uijeongbu, and 154.5mm in Yangju.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters forecasted, "Rain will fall in the metropolitan and Gangwon areas today, and there will be showers centered inland between late afternoon and evening."
