According to the police and fire authorities, at around 4:44 a.m. on this day, a pension building collapsed in Sin-sang-ri, Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, burying 4 people. 3 were rescued, but a woman in her 70s was found dead.
Earlier, at around 4:20 a.m., a man in his 40s who was swept away by water at Daebo Bridge Line in Daebo-ri was found dead, caught in a bridge structure. At around 5:20 a.m., a landslide in Jerong-ri also resulted in 1 person missing. Additionally, the fire authorities are continuing the search for 1 citizen swept away by a torrent nearby.
The number of people who have not been in contact with their families is currently identified as 8. There are also many places where communication is incomplete and the damage situation has not been resolved, so casualties are expected to increase.
Meanwhile, in Gapyeong, around 3:30 a.m., 76mm of rain per hour poured down in areas such as Jojong-myeon. The daily cumulative rainfall recorded 197.5mm as of 9:30 a.m.
