[Financial News] A US IT company CEO, who was caught in an affair scandal at a Coldplay concert, has reportedly been put on leave by the company after the incident caused worldwide embarrassment.
On the 18th (local time), according to foreign media such as the UK's The Times and The Telegraph, the US IT company 'Astronomer' announced that it has launched an official investigation into issues related to CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer (CPO) Christine Cabot.
The company further announced that with Byron on leave, co-founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO) Pete Dzoj will serve as interim CEO.
The two were caught on the big screen at a Coldplay concert held on the 16th in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
When the scene of Byron and Cabot embracing each other was broadcast live on the big screen, Cabot covered her face with both hands and Byron sat down and bowed his head. Subsequently, affair allegations about the two spread rapidly on social media.
The video on social media platforms like TikTok has been viewed over 70 million times, and more than 22,000 related articles have been published, leading to the so-called 'Coldplay Gate'. Byron's wife further fueled the controversy by deleting her husband's last name from her social media account and deactivating it.
Meanwhile, Grace Springer, the fan who filmed the concert scene and uploaded it to TikTok, expressed regret in an interview with the UK media 'The Sun', saying, "I had no idea who the two people were," inadvertently exposing their private lives.
The New York Times (NYT) pointed out that this incident vividly shows how cameras are always around us and how quickly events can spread through social media.
