Ministry of Science and ICT Korea Post announced on the 20th that it will sell 'Box 0', which is smaller than the existing 'Box 1', to facilitate the easy receipt of small parcels starting from the 21st. The box can be purchased at post offices nationwide and the post office shopping mall, and the selling price is 500 won.
It is possible to receive it at over 3,300 post offices nationwide, and it is designed to fit into over 7,200 mailboxes, considering customer convenience. Customers who mainly send small items can now send parcels conveniently 24 hours a day. 'Box 0' is a foldable box that fits one book (22.5 x 15.5 x 3cm) and is smaller than the existing 'Box 1' (home plate type), allowing it to be inserted into mailboxes.
The packaging method is printed on the surface of the box, making it easy for anyone to use. Instead of personal information such as address and contact information, 'Simple Pre-Registration' application information is recorded on the top of the box to minimize personal information exposure.
The use of 'Box 0' is simple. First, apply for 'Simple Pre-Registration' at the post office app or Internet Post Office, then write the 16-digit receipt number issued on the box and put it in the nearest mailbox. The location of the mailbox can be checked in the 'Mailbox Location Finder' menu on the Simple Pre-Registration screen. 'Box 0' collected from the mailbox is delivered to the recipient's address the next day. This is delivered at the same speed as registered parcels received at the post office counter within the same day departure deadline, with next-day (D+1) delivery.
Korea Post will offer a 500 won discount on parcel fees, making it 3,500 won, for customers sending parcels using 'Box 0' until the end of this year. Free shipping service (2,500 won shipping fee after the event ends) is provided to customers purchasing 'Box 0' at the post office shopping mall. Also, the 'Box 0 Promotion Event' is being held on the official social network service (SNS) until the end of next month, and prizes worth 10,000 to 30,000 won will be awarded to the winners.
Chaegeun Jo, head of Korea Post, said, "We have launched 'Box 0' to allow small parcels, which account for a high proportion of parcels sent by individual customers, to be conveniently sent not only at post offices but also at nearby mailboxes," and "We will continue to do our best to provide closer postal services to the people."
