[Financial News] The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) has announced a large-scale rally in downtown Seoul on the 19th, which is expected to cause traffic congestion.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated on the 18th that "if a large-scale rally and march with tens of thousands of participants is held in areas such as Namdaemun-ro and Toegye-ro, some roads in the downtown area will be controlled."
The KCTU's affiliated organizations have announced a preliminary rally in areas such as Baekbeom-ro in Gongdeok-dong from 11 a.m. on the 19th.
Then, from around 3 p.m., they will hold the main rally from Jong 1 Intersection to Eul 1 Intersection on Namdaemun-ro.
They plan to continue their march towards the Government Complex on Sajik-ro and Sejong Hotel on Toegye-ro.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will strengthen management by deploying more than 230 traffic police officers in the march section to respond to the rally.
A Seoul police official said, "Traffic congestion on major roads in the downtown area is expected," and urged, "Please use the subway as much as possible, and if you must use a vehicle, check traffic information in advance."
Traffic conditions related to the rally can be checked through the Seoul Police Traffic Information hotline, the Traffic Information Center website, and KakaoTalk's 'Seoul Police Traffic Information'.
Meanwhile, the KCTU is expected to demand the immediate revision of the so-called 'Yellow Envelope Act' (Articles 2 and 3 of the Trade Union Act), which former President Yoon Suk-yeol vetoed, and the abolition of the Yoon Suk-yeol regime's anti-labor policies.
