[Financial News] Changyong Lee, Governor of Bank of Korea, will attend the '30th EMEAP Governors' Meeting' held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 20th to the 22nd.
According to Bank of Korea on the 18th, Governor Lee plans to discuss global fragmentation, inflation, and review the activities of subordinate organizations at this meeting. EMEAP is a central bank consultative group established in 1991 for cooperation and information exchange among central banks in the East Asia-Pacific region, with member participation from 11 central banks including Korea, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.
Governor Lee will also attend the '14th EMEAP Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervisory Bodies Meeting'. This meeting was realized after the decision to specially invite the heads of relevant bodies from countries with separate financial supervisory bodies at the 16th EMEAP Governors' Meeting, where Bank of Korea held the chairmanship.
Governor Lee is expected to exchange views on the risks and opportunities of tokenization (conversion of deposits and assets into digital tokens) and safe and inclusive digital finance at the EMEAP Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervisory Bodies Meeting.
