【Financial News Daegu=Kim Jang-wook Reporter】 Daegu Transportation Corporation (hereafter referred to as the Corporation) announced on the 18th that it conducted a 'Joint Safety Experience Event with Related Organizations' at Banwoldang Station, the transfer station for Urban Rail Lines 1 and 2, on the 17th to enhance citizen awareness of safety equipment within the station and promote a safety culture.
The event was jointly conducted by the Corporation, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and the Daegu Safety Living Practice Citizens' Union (hereafter referred to as Daegu Anshilryeon). Various experience programs were operated for students from the local children's center 'Ottugi Classroom' and general passengers, receiving positive responses.
President Kim Ki-hyuk stated, "Through this event, I hope citizens will strengthen their ability to respond to crises by directly seeing, learning, and experiencing various safety equipment within the urban rail," emphasizing, "We will continue to strive for the establishment of a sustainable safety culture through cooperation with related organizations."
The event programs included △Virtual accident experience education using virtual reality (VR) devices (provided by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency) △CPR and AED usage education (conducted by Daegu Anshilryeon) △Demonstration and experience of safety equipment within the station (organized by the Corporation).
Additionally, the safety equipment experience within the station was designed for citizens to directly learn how to use fire escape masks, air respirators, air supply masks, and life-saving equipment boxes, along with demonstrations of actual emergency telephone calls and exhibitions of lithium battery disposal boxes.
This event was planned based on three main directions: tailored education for vulnerable groups, citizen-participatory experience content, and collaboration with related organizations, aiming to promote a practical safety culture that citizens can feel.
Meanwhile, the Corporation continues to achieve the highest level of performance in the urban rail safety sector nationwide, including △being selected as an excellent institution (Presidential Citation) for five consecutive years in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public institution disaster management evaluation in the railway sector △reacquiring certification as an excellent disaster reduction company by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety △achieving the highest grade for two consecutive years in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's railway safety management level evaluation.
