[Financial News] The Special Prosecutor Team for Rebellion and Foreign Affairs (Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok) submitted a 100-page opinion emphasizing the need for the arrest of former President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Park Ji-young, Special Prosecutor for Rebellion, stated at a press briefing on the morning of the 18th, "We submitted a 100-page opinion to the court around 3 PM the previous day and prepared 100 presentation slides to be displayed in court."
Five prosecutors, including Special Prosecutor Park Eok-su and Chief Prosecutor Jo Jae-cheol, participated in the bail review.
In response to the question, "What will be emphasized most in today's review?" Special Prosecutor Park said, "Since it is a bail review, we submitted an opinion that the arrest is justified and needs to continue," and "As the former President's side mentioned health issues, the special prosecutor team collected and submitted relevant materials within the scope they could verify."
He added, "In the case of health issues, as it is personal, we did not verify with the hospital but received related materials from Seoul Detention Center," and "We received a response from Seoul Detention Center that there is no problem with mobility."
The 9-2 Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judges Ryu Chang-seong, Jeong Hye-won, Choi Bo-won) is conducting a bail review hearing for former President Yoon from 10:15 AM on the 18th. Former President Yoon, who appeared in court, is expected to appeal for release, explaining his severely deteriorated health condition since the arrest.
In the defense team of former President Yoon, lawyers including lead attorney Kim Hong-il, Bae Bo-yoon, Song Jin-ho, Chae Myeong-seong, Choi Ji-woo, Kim Gye-ri, and Yoo Jeong-hwa appeared.
Previously, on the 16th, former President Yoon's defense team submitted a bail review request to the Seoul Central District Court. Former President Yoon, accused of abuse of power and obstruction of special official duties under the Criminal Act, was arrested on the 10th due to concerns about evidence destruction.
