"Marine Police, Second Life in Fishing Villages" Gyeongnam Return to Fishing and Rural Settlement Consultation Meeting Concluded

The Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Corporation's Gyeongnam Return to Fishing and Rural Settlement Support Center (Gyeongnam Center) announced on the 18th that it held the '2025 Gyeongnam Return to Fishing and Rural Settlement Consultation Meeting' at the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station on the 16th for retiring marine police officers and those interested in returning to fishing and rural areas. This consultation meeting was prepared to induce the settlement of retiring marine police officers with practical experience in the marine field in fishing villages and to increase interest in returning to fishing and rural areas.
About 50 employees from the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station attended the consultation meeting, which consisted of △Introduction of Gyeongsangnam-do's return to fishing and rural settlement policies and major projects of the Gyeongnam Center △Lectures on successful settlement cases △1:1 customized consultations.
In particular, Mr. Kim Chang-su, who won the '2024 Excellent Return to Fishing and Rural Settlement Award', took the stage as a lecturer to share his experiences, including the reason for settling in Dal-a Village, Tongyeong, completing the fishing school, and utilizing startup funds. He introduced a case of earning stable income by processing and selling locally caught specialties, providing realistic settlement advice that received great response from the attendees.
In the subsequent 1:1 customized consultations, settlement counselors for fishing villages in the Gyeongnam region provided detailed guidance on government and local government support projects, settlement procedures, and precautions tailored to individual situations.
Director Hyun Do-seong said, "Marine police officers, with their high understanding of the sea and field experience, are highly likely to settle in fishing villages," and added, "We plan to continue expanding customized mobile consultation meetings for marine-related occupations."
