[Financial News] The Democratic Party has decided to cancel the tour elections for the party leader selection scheduled for the 19th to 20th. Initially, the Democratic Party planned to hold tour elections in Daejeon and Busan, but the schedule was canceled due to the growing flood damage. Instead, candidate speeches will be conducted online, and voting will also be conducted online.
The Democratic Party held a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly on this day and made this decision. Initially, the Democratic Party planned to hold tour elections starting in the Chungcheong region on the 19th, followed by the Yeongnam region on the 20th, the Honam region on the 26th, and the Seoul metropolitan area on the 27th, and finally elect the party leader and supreme council members at the national convention held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on August 2nd.
However, as record-breaking floods caused widespread damage nationwide, the Democratic Party decided to focus its efforts on recovery and canceled all on-site tour election events.
Voting will proceed normally online, and candidate speeches will be replaced and conducted online at the central party headquarters.
