[Financial News] The Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team (Lee Myung-hyun Special Prosecutor) is conducting a search and seizure of the home and office within the National Assembly Members' Office of Lee Cheol-gyu, a member of the People Power Party, on the 18th.
The special prosecutor team began the search and seizure from the morning of that day, targeting the home and office of the National Assembly Members' Office of Lee, who is a reference in the case related to the death of Private Chae. Lee is reportedly linked to the so-called 'rescue lobby' suspicion involving former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seong-geun.
The special prosecutor team is also conducting a search and seizure of the home of former Commander Lim. Former Commander Lim is accused of causing the death of Private Chae by deploying troops in a rapid current search operation without providing life jackets or ropes during a flood damage recovery operation in Yecheon, Gyeongbuk in July 2023.
Additionally, former Commander Lim is suspected of being involved in a lobby by individuals in the 'Stylish Marine' KakaoTalk group chat, including Lee Jong-ho, former CEO of Black Pearl Invest, a key figure in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, to save him.
Former Commander Lim appeared for questioning by the special prosecutor on the 2nd of this month as a suspect. He reportedly refused to answer most questions related to the charge of occupational negligence causing death and only partially answered questions related to abuse of authority, false reporting, and rescue lobby, while refusing to answer the rest. The mobile phone he submitted is currently undergoing forensic analysis at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
