[Financial News] POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) announced on the 18th that it will implement 'AI-Native University' with Microsoft, the first of its kind among domestic universities.
POSTECH's transition to an 'AI-Native University' is a concept that differs from the existing partial use of AI. It is the first comprehensive approach in the country's universities to integrate AI into all aspects of university operations, including admissions, student education, research, and administration.
The main construction contents include △AI-based optimized curriculum design △personalized AI tutor system △real-time learning analysis and feedback △creating an environment focused on education and research through AI administrative task automation. This innovation is expected to bring groundbreaking changes across the university's competitiveness, including strengthening the connection with national AI policies, activating industry-academia cooperation, and attracting global talents.
This is an innovative educational model where generative AI becomes the core DNA of university operations, and it is attracting attention as it presents a new paradigm in global higher education.
Previously, on the 17th, POSTECH and Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the promotion of 'AI-Native University' at Microsoft's Korea office located in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
With this agreement, POSTECH has become a leading university in promoting cooperation with Microsoft in advanced technology R&D fields such as AI and quantum computing. In particular, this collaboration between a global science and technology university and a leading IT company is expected to be an important turning point in elevating Korea's AI competitiveness on the world stage. POSTECH officially launched the 'AI Committee' on the 8th, with President Kim Seong-geun and Seo Young-joo, Dean of the Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence, as co-chairs, to accelerate the transition to an 'AI-Native University'.
Kim Seong-geun, President of POSTECH, stated, "This agreement signifies a fundamental innovation in university education, not just a simple introduction of technology," and added, "POSTECH will play a leading role in presenting a new global standard for future-oriented universities in the AI era."
