[Financial News] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 18th that restoration work is underway for sections where operations were suspended due to extreme heavy rain.
According to KORAIL, as of 8 a.m. on this day, regular train operations between Seoul and Daejeon (including Yongsan to Seodaejeon) and between Dongdaegu and Busan on the Gyeongbu Line have been suspended. However, the Gyeongbu Line KTX is operating across the entire section.
Additionally, all train operations, including KTX, have been suspended on the Gyeongjeon Line (Dongdaegu to Jinju), Honam Line (Gwangju Songjeong to Mokpo), and Jeolla Line (Namwon to Yeosu Expo), while regular train operations have been suspended on the Janghang Line (Cheonan to Iksan), Seohae Line (Hongseong to Seohwaseong), and Chungbuk Line (Osong to Jecheon).
KORAIL stated that it is conducting safety inspections of structures in the suspended sections and is closely checking the safety status by deploying inspection vehicles.
Furthermore, train operations will be gradually resumed after confirming any abnormalities in tracks and facilities, and it is expected that considerable time will be required for restoration in flooded sections such as Jeondong to Jeonui on the Gyeongbu Line.
A KORAIL representative urged, "Please check the train operation status through the mobile app 'KORAIL Talk', the website, and the railway customer center before using the train."
