Emphasizing 'health deterioration' and appearing in person... Results expected today
[Financial News] Former President Yun Seok-yeol, who was re-arrested on charges of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant by investigative agencies, arrived at the Seoul Central District Court on the morning of the 18th to undergo a detention warrant review hearing.
According to the Seoul Central District Court, former President Yun departed from the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do, in a transport vehicle and arrived at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the day. He is currently reported to be staying in the detention waiting area within the court.
Former President Yun's detention warrant review hearing will be held from 10:15 AM on the day at the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Appeal Division 9-2 (Presiding Judges Ryu Chang-seong, Jeong Hye-won, and Choi Bo-won).
The detention warrant review is a procedure where the court re-evaluates whether the suspect's detention is lawful and necessary. The suspect's hearing and evidence investigation must be completed within 48 hours after the request for the hearing, and the court will make a decision on release or dismissal by comprehensively considering factors such as the violation of detention requirements and procedures, the risk of evidence destruction, and the possibility of escape.
Former President Yun is expected to appear in person and emphasize the need for release by claiming health deterioration. The result of the detention warrant review is expected to be announced late in the afternoon of the day. Former President Yun was detained on the 10th for "concerns of evidence destruction."
