[Financial News] Russia has claimed the right to use force against third countries that support Ukraine in attacking Russian territory.
According to RIA Novosti on the 17th (local time), Mariya Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated at a briefing that "Russia considers it has the right to use weapons against military facilities of countries that allow Ukraine to use (long-range) weapons against us."
Zakharova warned, "If the conflict escalates further, we will respond decisively and in the same manner."
She also claimed that the Ukrainian military cannot independently use long-range missiles. Zakharova directly mentioned, "If Taurus is used against us, it essentially means that German military personnel are directly involved in the planning and execution of combat operations."
She warned that if multinational forces are deployed, they too would be targets of attack.
Zakharova emphasized, "We have repeatedly stressed that we cannot tolerate the deployment of armed forces of other countries under any flag," and "We consider this as preparation for foreign intervention and will regard multinational forces as legitimate military targets."
She also dismissed Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and his pressure for additional sanctions on Russia.
Zakharova stated, "The sanctions imposed on us already number in the tens of thousands," and "New threats of sanctions are routine, and there will be a response."
She claimed that Russia already knows how to respond to sanctions and that the economic impact would be minimal.
Previously, President Trump proposed a 50-day deadline for a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine on the 14th, warning that if negotiations are not reached by then, harsh tariffs would be imposed on Russia and its allies.
