[Financial News] Public-private cooperation for the overseas expansion of the Korean-style smart city is in full swing.
Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) announced on the 18th that it held the '2025 K-City Network Planning Project Report and Business Meeting' as a side event of the World Smart City Expo (WSCE 2025) at BEXCO in Busan on the 17th.
This event was hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by KIND, with more than 100 attendees including government officials from K-City Network participating countries such as Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, as well as domestic businesspeople.
During the report, smart city development cases and future investment opportunities for each partner country were shared. The current status and investment linkage possibilities of three major projects were introduced: △Tashkent Smart Bio Cluster in Uzbekistan △Bandung Smart Town in Indonesia △Bacoor City Smart City in the Philippines. KIND plans to expand participation opportunities for domestic companies through practical demand-based cooperation with these partner countries.
In the subsequent meeting, active discussions were held on topics such as enhancing commercialization, expanding domestic company participation, and strategies for spreading K-City Network achievements.
On this day, KIND also signed a 'Business Agreement for Joint Development of Overseas Smart Cities' with Hyundai Motor Group. Both parties agreed to jointly discover Korean-style smart city models incorporating new technologies in fields such as mobility, logistics, and energy, and to establish a collaboration system for entering the global market.
A KIND representative said, "This event served as an opportunity to connect the needs of partner countries with the capabilities of domestic companies to spread the achievements of the K-City Network," adding, "We will continue to actively support the overseas expansion and commercialization of Korean-style smart cities based on intergovernmental cooperation."
