[Financial News] The Chungnam Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced on the 18th that it has recently released about 400,000 young Jjukkumi into the coastal areas of three cities in the province to restore fisheries resources and increase fishermen's income.
The released Jjukkumi were produced through the spawning induction process of mothers caught off the coast of Boryeong from April 22 to May 9, with a weight of around 0.04~0.05g.
The release took place five times from the 27th of last month to the 8th of this month in the seas near Seosan, Dangjin, and Boryeong, releasing 440,000 individuals.
The Chungnam Fisheries Resources Research Institute used a self-made release net by moving to the spawning grounds to increase the survival rate of young Jjukkumi. This release net complements the shortcomings of existing oxygen vinyl packaging, where some individuals stick inside the packaging during cephalopod release with suckers on their legs.
This allows for quick release, reducing the time young individuals are exposed to the external environment, increasing survival rates, and favoring resource creation. Jjukkumi is a specialty species of the West Sea, characterized by a lifespan of one year and rapid growth.
A representative of the Chungnam Fisheries Resources Research Institute said, "We plan to continue releasing economically viable fisheries seeds suitable for the West Sea, such as blue crabs and Jjukkumi."
