Cooperating with local governments to support recovery
[Financial News] Noh Yong-seok, the newly appointed Vice Minister of SMEs and Startups, visited the flood-damaged site on the 17th and held an emergency inspection meeting in response to the heavy rain.
On this day, amidst heavy rain, 175 stores at Dangjin Traditional Market in Chungnam Dangjin experienced floor flooding, and recovery work is underway. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Vice Minister Noh visited Dangjin Traditional Market, which was affected by the heavy rain, to inspect the flood damage and recovery situation and listen to the voices of the merchants.
Vice Minister Noh said, "I extend my deepest condolences to the merchants who have suffered great damage due to the heavy rain," and "We will closely cooperate with Chungnam, Dangjin City, etc., to support recovery so that normal business operations can resume as soon as possible."
In particular, Vice Minister Noh mentioned the recurrence of flooding at Dangjin Traditional Market, which happened again this year, and instructed to prepare fundamental improvement measures for traditional markets structurally vulnerable to flooding, located in low-lying areas and near rivers, in consultation with local governments. He also reiterated the importance of establishing a collaborative system with local governments and related agencies for heavy rain response.
Subsequently, Vice Minister Noh chaired an emergency inspection meeting with 13 local chiefs responsible for on-site support for SMEs and traditional markets. The meeting shared flood response and preparedness measures and discussed efficient support plans for affected SMEs and small business owners.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated, "We are preparing to support SMEs and small business owners affected by the heavy rain through emergency management stabilization funds to quickly return to normal life," and "In accordance with the revised 'Disaster and Safety Management Basic Act' effective from November 28 this year, we are also preparing facility recovery and management stabilization support for affected SMEs and small business owners without any setbacks."
