Lee Jae-myung, the President, appointed Park Yong-man, former chairman of Doosan Group (photo), as the head of the special delegation to the U.S. on the 17th. It is interpreted as a strategy to leverage the global network of former chairman Park, a former businessman, to aid in trade negotiations with the United States. Former chairman Park also served as the chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Woo Sang-ho, the Chief Political Officer of the Presidential Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day and announced the special delegation to the U.S. In addition to former chairman Park, the delegation includes Han Jun-ho, a senior member of the Democratic Party, and Kim Woo-young, a director of the Korea-U.S. Parliamentary Alliance.

Regarding the background of former chairman Park's selection, Chief Woo said, "As you know, Park Yong-man is an economist representing Korea's business community and has a history of leading a major economic organization in Korea," adding, "We believed that meetings with businesspeople in the U.S. could proceed more naturally, so we proposed the role of special delegation head, and he gladly accepted."

Senior member Han served as the chief of staff for candidate Lee during the 20th presidential election and was elected as a senior member during Lee's tenure as party leader. Director Kim is also considered a close associate of President Lee, having served as the Chief of Political Coordination. Chief Woo stated, "The nature of this special delegation is not to solve a specific task but to explain the changes since the President's inauguration and to assist in understanding within the international community."
