"We will do our best to support the development and commercialization of small and medium-sized enterprises' technology"
[Financial News] The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology announced on the 17th that Director Kim Young-shin visited the headquarters of COSEM to examine the company's core equipment and product manufacturing and process, and held a meeting with Lee Jun-hee, CEO of COSEM.
COSEM, established in 2007, is a company that manufactures and sells miniaturized scanning electron microscopes (Tabletop SEM) and preprocessing equipment.
COSEM developed the world's first tabletop scanning electron microscope with a magnification of 100,000 times. It is also expanding its market share in China, Europe, and North America, and expanding its supply chain to Finland, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
COSEM succeeded in developing a cross-section specimen preparation device capable of flat milling and commercializing nano-etching and cross-section processing equipment through the 2019 and 2020 SME Technology Innovation Development Project and Tech Bridge Utilization Commercialization Technology Development Project, organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and KIAT. In 2024, it was designated as a Global Small Giant 1000+ company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Director Kim listened to CEO Lee's impressions and difficulties regarding participation in the SME R&D support project through the meeting.
CEO Lee said, "By succeeding in commercialization development through the SME R&D support project, we were able to solve the problem of foreign dependence in the domestic electron microscope market and enter overseas markets."
Director Kim said, "Seeing COSEM grow, I was able to empathize with the need for continuous technology development and supply chain expansion for SMEs," and "We will do our best to support technology development and commercialization so that SMEs can enter the global market with excellent technology."
