[Financial News] CJ Logistics has elevated the level of automation in logistics centers. By introducing a mobile robot palletizer at the Incheon Global Hub (GDC), repetitive pallet stacking tasks have been automated.
CJ Logistics announced on the 17th that it has introduced a 'mobile robot palletizer' that automatically sorts and stacks boxes on pallets at Incheon GDC. The automation of loading tasks, which previously relied on manual labor, has significantly improved shipping efficiency.
'Palletizing' is the process of sorting boxes by size and destination and stacking them on pallets during the logistics center's shipping process. It was a task with many repetitive bending motions, causing high fatigue among workers.
The new technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) vision to recognize box sizes in real-time and automatically sorts and stacks various sizes of boxes heading to different destinations. Unlike fixed types, the robot can move back and forth, allowing it to work on up to four pallets simultaneously. Currently, one piece of equipment at Incheon GDC is handling the volume of two cities simultaneously.
This is explained by the mobile design without a floor fixing device, making installation and relocation flexible.
Additionally, a proprietary patented technology called the 'Rotary Structure Automatic Buffer System' has been introduced. AI determines whether boxes coming from the conveyor can be loaded, temporarily storing them in a buffer space and loading them in an efficient order. The rotary structure enhances space efficiency and loading rate.
Yong Guseong, Head of Automation Development at CJ Logistics, stated, "As the global e-commerce market grows, logistics technology must also become flexible and precise," adding, "We plan to actively apply the super-gap technology verified in Korea to the GDC under construction in Saudi Arabia."
