[Financial News] GS E&C is embarking on a digital-based technology collaboration to ensure safety against fires in super high-rise apartments.
GS E&C announced on the 17th that it signed a business agreement with fire simulation specialist MeteoSimulation for 'fire safety performance design for super high-rise residential buildings' at the GS E&C R&D Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 15th.
This collaboration utilizes 'digital twin' technology. By replicating actual buildings and using AI to conduct thousands of fire tests, it optimizes the design of structures and facilities to extend the evacuation time for customers and strengthen the safety net to allow them to escape to safe places along efficient routes.
The AI-based fire prediction system established through this agreement will be applied first to the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 redevelopment area in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and the Seocho Jinheung Apartment reconstruction complex, and will be expanded to urban redevelopment projects thereafter.
A GS E&C official stated, "Through this technology collaboration, we will realize data-based fire safety designs that customers can actually experience," adding, "We plan to present guidelines for fire safety based on the verification results by building a prediction-centered fire safety model utilizing AI beyond existing design methods."
Meanwhile, GS E&C is challenging for orders in urban redevelopment projects such as the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 redevelopment project and Seocho Jinheung Apartment reconstruction in the second half of this year. In particular, to make the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1, a major urban redevelopment project in the second half of the year, the best landmark complex along the Han River, it collaborates with 'David Chipperfield Architects', founded by the world-renowned architect 'David Chipperfield', who won the Pritzker Prize, known as the 'Nobel Prize of Architecture'. Additionally, it has formed a technical cooperation partnership with 'Arup', a global engineering company that has performed comprehensive designs for super high-rise landmark buildings.
