[Financial News] Guiturami is making a full-scale entry into the North American distributed energy market.
Guiturami announced on the 17th that its 200kW-class micro cogeneration system (CHP) has obtained UL certification, a North American safety standard, and completed its first export to the United States.
'Guiturami Micro CHP' is a distributed energy system that simultaneously produces electricity and heat based on Hyundai Motor's compressed natural gas (CNG) bus engine. It uses natural gas as fuel and recycles waste heat generated during the power generation process for heating, hot water, and cooling, achieving a total energy efficiency of 85%.
This system produces electricity directly within the building, supplying emergency power to major facilities even if the external power grid is cut off. Recently, the United States has been experiencing a power shortage crisis due to aging power grids, increased power demand from electric vehicles and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, and high temperatures. As a result, on-site distributed generation systems like micro CHP are gaining attention.
Guiturami plans to expand supply by completing 'UL certification' for additional models within this year, in addition to the current 200kW-class model. It is also in the process of certifying products based on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel. The targets are commercial buildings, multi-family homes, and public facilities.
A Guiturami representative said, "We will grow the proven CNG engine-based high-efficiency system in collaboration with Hyundai Motor as a key product to solve the US power shortage," adding, "We plan to continuously pursue technological innovation and localization strategies with this entry into North America."
