Zoe Wanamaker Also Received a 6-Month Suspension
[Financial News] British actress Emma Watson (35), renowned for her role as Hermione in the 'Harry Potter' series, has had her license suspended for 6 months due to speeding.
On the 16th (local time), according to CNN and others, Watson was caught driving at 38 miles per hour (61.2 km/h) in a 30-mile (about 48.3 km) zone in Oxford, UK, on July 31 last year.
The Wycombe Magistrates' Court in the UK decided on a fine of 1,044 pounds (about 1.95 million won) along with a 6-month license suspension.
Watson had already accumulated 9 penalty points prior to the speeding violation. With this violation, 3 points were added, exceeding the UK's automatic license suspension threshold of 12 points.
Watson did not appear in court on this day.
On the same day, another Harry Potter cast member, Zoe Wanamaker, also received a 6-month license suspension for speeding.
Wanamaker, who appeared as Professor Hooch, the Quidditch referee, in the first Harry Potter film, was caught driving at 46 miles per hour (about 74 km/h) in a 40-mile (about 64.4 km) zone in the Berkshire area of the UK last August. Like Watson, he was also in a state of 9 accumulated penalty points.
