[Financial News] Daewoo Construction announced on the 17th that the 'Consortium (BNOT)', in which it participated as the lead construction investor, has been selected as the preferred negotiation partner for the Busan New Port South Container West Pier site public-private investment project.
The site public-private investment project is a newly introduced method as of October 2024. After selecting the preferred negotiation partner, it is an investment model where the government and the private sector plan and detail the project together, considering policy directions. This Busan New Port South Container West Pier project is the first site public-private partnership project being promoted in the port industry.
The project involves the construction and operation of two 2000TEU-class feeder piers and one 30,000DWT-class general cargo pier at the Busan New Port South Container West site. The plan is to collaborate with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to detail the proposal, undergo eligibility review, and third-party proposal announcements, aiming to start construction in 2029.
A company representative said, "The Busan New Port site public-private investment project is a new model combining government policy and private creativity," and "We will contribute to the innovation of the port industry and the strengthening of national logistics competitiveness through the successful promotion of the project."
