[Financial News] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 17th that it will hold a '5G Specialized Network Convergence Service Case and Outlook' seminar with the Korea Communications Agency to ensure the introduction of the 5th Generation (G) specialized network (Eum 5G), a core infrastructure for digital and AI transformation, is spread across all domestic industries.
5G specialized networks are networks that provide ultra-fast, ultra-low latency, and ultra-connected 5G mobile communication technology convergence services by utilizing specialized network frequencies in specific areas such as buildings and land.
The Ministry of Science and ICT, in collaboration with the Korea Communications Agency, has been continuously holding on-site seminars since last year to promote the introduction of 5G specialized networks in the industrial sector. This year, in cooperation with relevant institutions in demand industries such as food, manufacturing, robotics, and smart buildings, it plans to hold seminars four times from this month to support the introduction of 5G specialized networks.
The first seminar, held at the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency located in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, featured participation from 5G specialized network-related equipment and service companies such as LG Electronics, HFR, Smack, and Wizcore, presenting the latest cases of 5G specialized network application and utilization in the food industry sector.
In this seminar, to assist demand companies wishing to build and operate 5G specialized networks, the '5G Specialized Network Guidelines' prepared in 2021 were revised and distributed. The Ministry of Science and ICT expects this to further reduce trial and error for companies wishing to introduce 5G specialized networks and contribute to the activation of the specialized network market.
The second seminar is scheduled to be held in early September in conjunction with the 5G Specialized Network Exhibition (PNT FAIR 2025) at KINTEX in Ilsan, where major cases of specialized network introduction and domestic and international status and prospects will be discussed with 5G specialized network equipment developers, suppliers, and demand companies. The third seminar, scheduled to be held in Seoul at the end of September, will share 5G specialized network cases tailored to the field in cooperation with the Architecture Space Research Institute and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to promote the digital and AI transformation of smart buildings and smart green industrial complexes and discuss future cooperation directions.
The fourth seminar is planned to be promoted in November at COEX in Seoul in cooperation with the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, focusing on robot demonstration cases based on 5G specialized networks.
