[Financial News]  Kim Yong-dae, Drone Operations Commander, who is under suspicion of 'Pyongyang drone infiltration', appeared before the Insurrection and Treason Special Prosecutor Team (Jo Eun-seok Special Prosecutor).
Commander Kim appeared as a suspect at the Insurrection Special Prosecutor on the 17th at around 9:33 AM for a summons investigation and told reporters, "All my actions are for the nation and the people, and I have never tried to gain personal benefit," adding, "The fact that I am being investigated by the special prosecutor regarding military operations is devastating to me."
He continued, "Since the special prosecutor has its own duties, I will listen and answer sincerely to the questions posed by the special prosecutor," and added, "I will clearly distinguish between truth and error and explain well."
Commander Kim emphasized that the alleged three-party meeting with former President Yoon Seok-yeol and former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun is "not true at all," and that "there is content saying I received orders from former President Yoon, but I have never received such orders."
The special prosecutor team is investigating charges of general treason against former President Yoon. It is reported that they have secured a recording of an active-duty officer stating that former President Yoon ordered the deployment of Pyongyang drones to create a justification for declaring martial law around October last year. The suspicion is that former President Yoon bypassed the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff and directly ordered the drone company, which is the working-level department.
The recording reportedly includes content such as "Commander Kim said it was an order from V (the President)", "It was said to be done without the knowledge of the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff".
The special prosecutor team is also looking into suspicions that the drone company intentionally attached a leaflet to a drone, knowing it could crash, to provoke North Korean aggression.
On this day, the special prosecutor team is expected to investigate Commander Kim on △ whether there was a three-party meeting with former President Yoon and Minister Kim △ whether former President Yoon directly ordered the drone company △ whether the drone company executed the operation knowing such details.
