[Financial News] The National Public Rights Commission announced on the 17th that it paid a reward of about 650 million won to 44 corruption and public interest reporters in the second quarter of this year.
 According to the Public Rights Commission, the revenue recovered by public institutions through corruption and public interest reports in the second quarter of this year is about 6.5 billion won. The fields where the most rewards were paid were △Research and Development (about 190 million won) △Medical (about 170 million won) △Industry (about 140 million won) in order.

 In addition, the Public Rights Commission added that it paid a total of over 60 million won in rewards to two people selected after reviewing corruption and public interest reporting cases recommended by each public institution last May. It explained that 40 million won was paid to a reporter who reported false registration of researchers and fraudulent receipt of research and development funds while carrying out a national research project, and 20 million won was paid to a reporter who led to more than 12 years of imprisonment and confiscation by reporting a voice phishing organization member.
 Lee Myung-soon, Vice Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Division of the Public Rights Commission, said, "The Public Rights Commission is actively operating the system so that appropriate rewards and awards can be given to reporters who contribute to the promotion of public interest," and added, "We will continue to strive to prevent and eradicate corruption and public interest violations in our society through the protection and support of reporters."
