Five Cities and Counties in Northwestern Chungnam, Complete School Closure Due to Heavy Rain

[Financial News] Due to the heavy rain that started pouring on the afternoon of the 16th, educational facilities in the northwestern region of Chungcheongnam-do have been flooded one after another, prompting the local education office to issue an emergency school closure order.

The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 17th that it has decided to completely close all kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the five cities and counties of Dangjin, Seosan, Asan, Yesan, and Hongseong.

At Dangjin Information High School, rainwater has risen to the waist of an adult, making access itself impossible. At Tapdong Elementary School, the entire playground is submerged up to the ankle of an adult, making it difficult for students to safely attend school.

At Jeongmi Elementary School and Yongyeon Kindergarten, a significant portion of the access road is also flooded, restricting both vehicle and pedestrian access.

A representative from the Chungnam Office of Education said, "We are closely monitoring the possibility of further spread of flood damage while maintaining a real-time communication system with each school through an emergency response system."
