[Financial News] Daechi Mido Apartment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be transformed into a super high-rise residential complex with a maximum height of 49 stories and 3914 units.
Seoul City designated and announced Daechi Mido Apartment as a reconstruction maintenance area on the 17th. Accordingly, Gangnam-gu plans to provide substantial administrative support, including the formation of a union formation committee.
This maintenance plan includes the installation of a three-dimensional pedestrian bridge and securing public pedestrian pathways to enhance connectivity inside and outside the complex. The pedestrian bridge crossing Yangjaecheon is expected to improve not only pedestrian connectivity with Yangjaecheon but also accessibility to nearby academy districts.
Located in the area of 511 Daechi-dong, Daechi Mido Apartment is a large complex completed in 1983 with a height of 14 stories and 2436 units. Starting with passing the safety inspection (D grade) in 2014, after the establishment of the maintenance plan in 2017, resident briefings, opinions from the Gangnam-gu council, and deliberations by the Seoul City Urban Planning Committee continued, but the project was delayed due to reasons such as adjusting the scale of the maintenance plan. After being selected as a target for the rapid integrated planning in 2022, the project began to gain momentum again and passed the deliberation of the Seoul City Urban Planning Committee's subcommittee in March 2025, putting the reconstruction project on track.
Gangnam-gu plans to support the promotion of union formation through public support maintenance project professional management services following this maintenance area designation announcement. The support includes procedures such as overall administration for the formation of the promotion committee, status surveys, preparation of lists of land and other owners, holding resident briefings and speeches, election of preliminary promotion committee chairman, drafting of operating regulations, and support for approval of the promotion committee formation.
Seong-myeong Jo, the mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, "This maintenance area designation will be a turning point in improving the overall residential environment in the Daechi-dong area, beyond merely redeveloping the complex," adding, "We will continue to provide transparent and prompt administrative support based on residents' opinions."
