[Financial News]
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has upgraded the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters from Level 1 to Level 2 on the morning of the 17th, following the announcement of a heavy rain warning centered on southern Gyeonggi and Chungcheong areas, with very strong and heavy rain.
With the Level 2 upgrade, the heavy rain crisis alert level is raised from 'caution' to 'alert', and to respond fully to this heavy rain, emergency duty is operated by strengthening cooperation with related ministries such as the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Forest Service.
The head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (acting Minister of the Interior and Safety, Kim Min-jae) ordered all capacities to be focused on responding to the heavy rain by related ministries and local governments. First, in areas where rainfall is concentrated, such as Seosan, Dangjin, and Taean, public action guidelines such as refraining from going out during early morning hours and prohibiting access to dangerous areas are intensively communicated through disaster messages.
In particular, it emphasized taking proactive control and safety measures such as evacuation of residents in collaboration with local governments, police, fire departments, and other related agencies immediately upon detecting signs of danger such as river flooding.
Kim Min-jae, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, stated, "The government will make every effort to manage the situation during late-night hours, focusing on the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, and will do its utmost in disaster response."
