[Financial News] A joint task force (TF) of relevant ministries to discuss the establishment of the RE100 (100% Renewable Energy) industrial complex, a key task of the new government, has been launched.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it held the first TF meeting presided over by First Vice Minister Mun Sinhak at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul on the 16th.
The meeting was attended by directors and managers from relevant ministries such as the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
They decided to concretize the tasks of each ministry in areas such as △building renewable energy infrastructure △attracting companies and creating residential conditions △developing industrial complexes and building infrastructure for the successful establishment of the RE100 industrial complex.
In particular, they decided to focus the TF's capabilities on preparing essential incentive measures to attract investment from high-tech companies, such as a zero (0) regulatory business environment, attractive educational and residential conditions, and strong electricity rate reduction plans.
The RE100 industrial complex is a new concept of industrial policy that creates an industrial complex to attract companies by utilizing abundant renewable energy in the region.
The TF was organized to discuss the detailed promotion plan and special law enactment of the RE100 industrial complex, which was reported as the government's top policy priority at the presidential chief aide meeting on the 10th.
The government plans to hold regular TF meetings every other week, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Land, aiming to prepare the RE100 industrial complex establishment plan and special law enactment by the end of the year.
Vice Minister Mun said, "We must take RE100, which is becoming a necessary element for export companies, as an opportunity rather than a regulation, and promote regional balanced development and energy transition using renewable energy," adding, "We will create measures for the rapid establishment of the RE100 industrial complex by discovering all available policy tools through organic cooperation with relevant ministries."
