[Financial News] Hanmi Pharmaceutical is partnering with the Korean Optometric Association to embark on a joint healthcare big data research project for the public's eye health. Hanmi Pharmaceutical announced on the 16th that it signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Joint Development and Utilization of a Domestic Eye Disease Statistics-Based White Paper' on the 9th at Hanmi Group's headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hanmi Pharmaceutical's Domestic Business Division Executive Director Park Myeong-hee, Korean Optometric Association President Kim Eun-cheol, and other officials.
This MOU aims to create an 'Eye Disease White Paper' that can be immediately used in ophthalmology clinical settings by collecting and analyzing quantitative data on major eye diseases such as refractive errors, low vision, and presbyopia.
Through the agreement, the two parties plan to carry out various joint projects, including healthcare big data research on Korean eye diseases, analysis of prevalence and estimated population by ophthalmic disease, and the production and distribution of a white paper for ophthalmology support.
In this process, Hanmi Pharmaceutical will be responsible for statistical analysis and visualization of eye disease-related data. The Korean Optometric Association will enhance the completeness of the data by adding clinical opinions from optometry experts with rich field experience, while also being responsible for practical field application and distribution.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical's Domestic Business Division Executive Director Park Myeong-hee said, "This agreement is significant as it aims to produce concrete and practical materials that can help in actual clinical settings beyond improving awareness of ophthalmic diseases," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with the association and various expert groups to propose integrated solutions for the public's eye health."
Korean Optometric Association President Kim Eun-cheol said, "Refractive errors and presbyopia are closely related to quality of life, but domestic statistical data is lacking," expressing hope that "this white paper will serve as an objective standard not only for the medical community but also for the related industry as a whole."
