[Financial News] Kim Yong-tae, who recently served as the interim leader of the People Power Party, criticized the party leadership for attending the launch ceremony of the 'Reset Korea National Movement Headquarters' organized by Representative Yoon Sang-hyun.
Party Leadership Attends 'Reset Korea'... "Lost for Words" Criticism
Former Chairman Kim stated on his social networking service (SNS) on the 16th, "The leadership of the People Power Party reportedly attended the 'Yoon Seok-yeol Again' event on the 14th. I am lost for words," emphasizing, "If we borrow the words of former President Kim Young-sam, who can be considered the new starting point of conservatism, conservatives should not choose the path of eternal death for temporary survival, but choose the path of eternal life even if it seems like temporary death."
This is a reaction to the leadership, including Song Eon-seok, the interim leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, Jeong Jeom-sik, the secretary-general, and Park Sang-woong, the deputy floor leader, attending the launch ceremony of the 'Reset Korea National Movement Headquarters' organized by Representative Yoon. The 'Yoon Again' faction, which has opposed the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, and pro-Yoon lawmakers, as well as Mr. Jeon Han-gil, who advocates election fraud conspiracy theories, are at the center of this group.
Representative Kim said, "As the party convention approaches, as always, there are those who choose the path of temporary survival by appealing to the hardline supporters. What needs to be done for the party's reform now is to protect the traditional supporters from the far-right forces," adding, "The far-right forces in Korean politics are those who claim that we lost the presidential election because we couldn't unite around former President Yoon and that this election was also fraudulent."
"The far-right forces, despite the Constitutional Court's decision on the presidential impeachment trial and the presidential election results, are promoting the idea that President Yoon was right, as if the entire conservative base supports their claims," Kim pointed out, lamenting, "What is even more absurd and frustrating is that some politicians in the People Power Party are following these far-right claims and participating in their events to gain the votes of hardline supporters ahead of the party convention."
"Protecting Party Members from 'Far-Right Ghosts' Is Key to Conservative Reform"
Representative Kim continued, "They go to such events and then publicly claim they do not support martial law," adding, "You might as well publicly say you support martial law and believe in election fraud. If not, tell them in front of them that martial law is clearly wrong and election fraud is a conspiracy theory," continuing his criticism.
Representative Kim emphasized, "Traditional conservative supporters uphold the constitution. Supporting martial law, which destroys constitutional order under the pretext of upholding the constitution, is a very dangerous anti-constitutional act," asserting, "Protecting traditional conservative supporters and People Power Party members from the ghosts of far-right forces is the core task of current conservative reform."
He further stressed, "Excluding the vested interests who subtly use far-right forces for their power retention from the party's decision-making structure is the essence of reform," emphasizing, "Those who desire the party's reform must unite."
