[Financial News] Jo Won-cheol, the newly appointed Head of the Legislation Office, stated on the 16th that "the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a matter of choice but an essential foundation for survival and development," and announced plans to actively incorporate AI into the office's work.
On this day, Director Jo officially took office as the 36th Head of the Legislation Office and expressed this in his inaugural speech.
He emphasized, "When AI's reasoning function is introduced into our work, the provision of legal information to the public and existing legislative tasks can be carried out very efficiently," adding, "Furthermore, the introduction of AI is absolutely necessary for the comprehensive revision of administrative laws that the Legislation Office intends to pursue in the future."
Additionally, Director Jo stated, "President Lee Jae-myung intends to boldly eliminate unreasonable and unnecessary regulations that hinder growth. The Legislation Office must strive to actively support such national governance," and added, "Bold revision of administrative laws will be one of the paths to finding new growth engines."
He continued, "Our country's economic growth has not only stagnated but is now lower than that of the United States or Europe," pointing out, "Every government has called for a drastic repeal of regulations whenever there was a change in administration, but all ended in failure."
He also mentioned, "This is because the unconditional reliance on administrative legislation and excessive proliferation have persisted for a long time, fixing the consciousness of government officials in that direction, making it impossible to even imagine another path."
He further emphasized, "In carrying out legislative work, we must constantly reflect on why this law should exist, what it is for, how it will actually operate in reality, and whether this provision is even necessary, as if it were a topic of discussion."
