Lenovo announced its 2024-2025 ESG annual report on the 16th. In this report, Lenovo presented its progress towards achieving its greenhouse gas reduction targets by 2030 and its long-term vision for achieving net zero by 2050 in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Lenovo is accelerating progress in the environmental sector through its sustainability strategy based on the circular economy. It continues to apply closed-loop recycled materials to its products and expands product lifespan and resource circulation through sustainability services that assist customers with product repairs, recycling, and reuse.
Based on transparent and reliable ESG performance, Lenovo is recognized by various global institutions. It received a Platinum rating from EcoVadis and a AAA rating in the MSCI ESG assessment. It won the Gold Award at the 'Corporate Governance and ESG Awards' hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). Recently, it ranked 8th in the 'Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 Companies' and scored 9 out of 10 in the ESG category.
Lenovo's social impact is also steadily expanding. In 2024, it was once again selected as the 'Best Workplace for Disability' by Disability:IN in the United States, and it was recognized in the UK and Brazil through the global application of these best practices. It is also strengthening its connection with the community through the annual social contribution campaign 'LMOS (Love on Month of Service)'. This year, the number of employees worldwide who supported volunteering increased by 44% compared to the previous year, reaching a record high.
Dave Carroll, Lenovo's Senior Vice President and Chief Legal and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, said, "This year is an important year in Lenovo's ESG journey," adding, "As the first generation of key performance indicators is nearing completion, we take pride in our achievements and will lay the foundation for the next stage of ESG leadership."
In the governance sector, Lenovo has strengthened its internal policy framework to realize the vision of 'Smarter AI for All'. It has introduced a comprehensive AI governance policy in line with commitments with the Canadian government, UNESCO, Cercle InterElles, and the European Commission (EC). This is part of the company's efforts to establish responsible innovation across the enterprise, with Doug Fisher, the existing Chief Security Officer (CSO), also assuming the role of Chief AI Officer (CAIO).
