KT is collaborating with Korean representative companies, public sectors, and academia to exchange high-quality data, which is the core asset of Korean AI competitiveness and determines AI model performance.
KT held the 'K Data Alliance' agreement ceremony on the 16th at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul in Songpa-gu, Seoul. On this day, representatives from a total of 7 institutions, including KT, Korea University Institute of Korean Cultural Studies, Doosan Digital Innovation, Icecream Edu, JoongAng Ilbo, Korea Educational Broadcasting System (EBS), and Hangeul Society, attended and signed an agreement to form the 'K Data Alliance'. A session was also prepared to discuss the establishment of the AI data ecosystem in depth.
In particular, KT emphasized the importance of high-quality data that can reflect Korean expressions, social and cultural contexts, and various user purposes to implement the Korean AI philosophy as the organizer of the K Data Alliance. They also highlighted the significance and value of sharing Korean data held by leading institutions in each field.
The formation of the K Data Alliance was driven by a sense of mission and consensus to create an ecosystem that grows and develops together through cooperation and openness, beyond the implementation and safe and valuable utilization of Korean AI, to gain global competitiveness.
The institutions will continue to closely cooperate for △data construction for Korean AI △creation of leading examples in Korean AI-related domains △promotion and external dissemination of Korean AI-related activities and achievements △research in the humanities and social fields based on Korean AI data.
KT is leading the development of 'Korean AI' that best understands Korea and is safe and reliable by incorporating Korea's spirit, language, culture, and knowledge. To this end, they emphasized the importance of correct and reliable data as a top priority and led companies and institutions with representative content in education, humanities, history, Korean language, and media to gather in the K Data Alliance.
KT selects content held by each institution, processes it into high-quality data, and structures it into a form that AI can learn, connecting it to Korean AI models and services such as the independently developed model Mit:eum 2.0, Microsoft cooperation-based GPT model, and other open-source models.
In the future, each institution participating in the K Data Alliance will operate a regular council with KT as the focal point, share implementation results, and discover new tasks for the spread of Korean AI, thereby enhancing execution and cohesion. They also plan to promote the continuous expansion of participating institutions to build a sophisticated Korean AI data ecosystem that connects data-model-service.
Oh Seung-pil, Vice President of KT's Technology Innovation Division, said, "Korean AI should enhance the nation's AI competitiveness while promoting corporate AI innovation and leading to practical value that people can experience in their daily lives," adding, "We will work together to ensure that the K Data Alliance becomes a key driver in the continuous advancement and practical application of Korean AI."
