[Financial News] Aero K Airlines announced on the 16th that it has launched a new regular route connecting Cheongju, Chungbuk, and Hiroshima, Japan, from Cheongju International Airport.
The Cheongju~Hiroshima route operates four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). The outbound flight departs from Cheongju Airport at 1:45 PM and arrives at Hiroshima Airport at 3:05 PM, while the return flight departs from Hiroshima Airport at 3:55 PM and arrives at Cheongju Airport at 5:15 PM.
Hiroshima, one of Japan's top 10 cities, is home to world-renowned tourist attractions such as the Peace Memorial Park (Atomic Bomb Dome), Itsukushima Shrine, and Hiroshima Castle, and demand for regular flights is expected to gradually increase.
The Hiroshima route is the first to be launched since Cheongju Airport opened in 1997, and it is currently only operated from Incheon Airport domestically. With the addition of the Hiroshima route, a total of 8 routes to Japan are simultaneously launched, making Cheongju Airport, along with Gimhae Airport, the regional airport with the most routes to Japan.
Cheongju Airport's 8 routes to Japan are to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Ibaraki, Obihiro, and Hiroshima.
A representative from Aero K Airlines said, "The establishment of the Hiroshima route is the result of Aero K's international expansion strategy aimed at connecting with various cities in Japan," adding, "It is expected to alleviate the inconvenience of having to travel to Incheon to visit small and medium-sized cities in Japan."
Aero K Airlines plans to additionally launch routes to Kitakyushu and Okinawa in September and October, respectively.
