Key figures related to the 'rage meeting' are summoned in succession... Focus on clarifying the circumstances of investigation pressure from the presidential office
[Financial News] The Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team (Special Prosecutor Lee Myeong-hyeon) will summon Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, who was in charge of the initial investigation of the Marine Corps Private Chae's death case, as a reference on the afternoon of the 16th.
The special prosecutor team announced in a notice this morning that "Colonel Park Jeong-hoon will appear as a reference in the special prosecutor this afternoon" and "the reference investigation is scheduled for 1:30 PM."
Colonel Park is a figure who led the initial investigation of Private Chae's case and publicly exposed the circumstances of investigation pressure from the presidential office and the Ministry of National Defense. Previously, during the investigation process by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), he testified that former President Yoon Seok-yeol's rage was the background of the investigation pressure.
The special prosecutor team will also continue the investigation related to the chief aide meeting presided over by the presidential office on July 31, 2023, when former President Yoon's 'rage theory' emerged. Former Director Kang Ui-gu of the Presidential Secretariat will also be summoned as a reference for investigation at 2 PM on the same day. Former Director Kang is known to have made several calls with former Defense Secretary Lim Ki-hoon on the day of the meeting.
Previously, the special prosecutor summoned and investigated Kim Tae-hyo, former First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, Lee Chung-myeon, former Foreign Affairs Secretary, and Wang Yun-jong, former Economic Security Secretary. It is reported that all of them testified in a manner that virtually acknowledged former President Yoon's rage.
