[Financial News] Korean Air announced that it will participate in the ‘2025 World Smart City Expo (WSCE)’ held at BEXCO, Busan from the 15th to the 17th for three days, presenting its vision for the future Smart Mobility business and showcasing its advanced aerospace technology capabilities.
WSCE is Asia's largest smart city exhibition jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT since 2017 to share the latest technologies and innovations related to smart cities around the world.
This year, the event has been completely revamped to be city-centric, introducing new innovative technologies and services in the smart city sector. Last year's event was attended by 330 institutions and companies from 70 countries worldwide, with over 39,000 visitors.
Korean Air will introduce the excellent capabilities of its aerospace business and the latest technologies related to smart mobility, centered on the corporate value system ‘KE Way’. The booth will be divided into three sections showcasing advanced technologies under the corporate mission ‘Connecting for a better world’, featuring future air mobility (AAM), digital MRO, and smart drones.
The inspection drone incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technology addresses the safety issues of maintenance personnel in high-altitude work environments during aircraft exterior inspections and enhances maintenance efficiency. Some of its performance has been improved for use in the smart mobility business. Korean Air also unveils technologies applicable in various fields, such as a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to propose suitable maintenance plans when aircraft defects are detected, and a hybrid drone suitable for long-term hovering for land, sea environment surveys, reconnaissance, and goods delivery.
Korean Air also reveals its emerging status as a strong player in the urban air mobility (UAM) sector. Recently, Korean Air has been leading the establishment of operational systems and traffic management systems in the UAM ecosystem, accumulating various know-how.
Last year, it successfully completed the first phase of the ‘K-UAM Grand Challenge’ Korean urban air mobility demonstration project organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, proving its excellent technological capabilities. In this exhibition, it plans to showcase the UAM operation control and traffic management solution ‘ACROSS’, demonstrating the innovation and stability of UAM services.
This exhibition will also feature a ‘KE Keyring’ make-your-own keychain event based on the new corporate image (CI) concept. Through this, Korean Air aims to promote the new CI and increase brand interest among visitors.
A Korean Air representative said, “Participating in this exhibition will be a great opportunity to apply Korean Air’s advanced technology and innovation to the future smart mobility industry and prepare for a new leap based on our know-how in the aerospace business.”
