[Financial News] Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, was found to have changed his mobile phone after the key call content regarding 'nomination interference suspicion' was disclosed.

According to the legal community on the 14th, Yoon suddenly changed his mobile phone in December last year. Political broker Myung Tae-gyun submitted three mobile phones, including the so-called 'golden phone', and one USB to the prosecution, marking the start of a full-scale investigation into the nomination interference suspicion.

The call content secured through forensic analysis by the prosecution included discussions between former President Yoon Seok-yeol and Mr. Myung about the nomination of former member Kim Young-sun, mentioning Yoon, who was then the chairman of the People Power Party's nomination committee.

According to this, on May 9, 2022, a day before the presidential inauguration, former President Yoon told Mr. Myung, "I have been working hard for Kim Young-sun since the primary, so please take care of Kim Young-sun, but there are many talks in the party," to which Mr. Myung reportedly replied, "I will never forget your grace for the rest of my life. Thank you."

There was also a part where former President Yoon expressed his intention to directly ask Yoon for the nomination of former member Kim Young-sun.

Mr. Myung mentioned, "It seems that Yoon Han-hong and Kwon Seong-dong are uncomfortable with the nomination. If you say a word, there were no female members of the National Assembly in Gyeongnam," regarding the nomination of former member Kim, to which former President Yoon reportedly said, "Okay. I will talk to Yoon Sang-hyun once more. He is the nomination committee chairman."

It was revealed that about 40 minutes after this call, Mr. Myung also had a call with Mrs. Kim. At that time, Mrs. Kim reportedly told Mr. Myung, "The president-elect just called regarding the nomination of former member Kim. Don't worry, it will go well."

Yoon has denied the nomination interference suspicion, saying, "I have never reported the list of nominees to President Yoon," but coincidentally, the timing of Yoon changing his mobile phone coincides with the disclosure of this call content, increasing the suspicion.

The special investigation team searched Yoon's office and home on the 8th but failed to secure the mobile phone. Yoon's side voluntarily submitted an iPhone to the special investigation team, but the iPhone is locked, and they refused to provide the password requested by the special investigation team.
