Song Eon-seok "Lee Jae-myung Government's First Cabinet Appointment is a Total Failure, All Disqualified"

Song Eon-seok, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, said at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 14th, "The first cabinet appointment of the Lee Jae-myung government is a total failure. Strictly speaking, all are disqualified."

Chairman Song stated, "The ministerial candidates are creating a sham hearing without submitting documents or adopting witnesses, employing a strategy akin to Kim Min-seok (Prime Minister)'s style of 'bed soccer' tactics, thinking they just need to endure for a day," he revealed.

According to the National Assembly, from today until the 18th, hearings for 16 ministerial candidates, one National Tax Service Commissioner candidate, and others will be conducted over five days. Starting with Kang Seon-woo, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family candidate, Bae Gyeong-hoon, the Minister of Science and ICT candidate, Jeon Jae-soo, the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries candidate, and Jeong Dong-young, the Minister of Unification candidate, most of the cabinet members' hearings, excluding the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and the Minister of Culture and Sports, will be held this week.

Chairman Song said, "Nevertheless, Kang Hun-sik, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Secretariat, praised the new government's first cabinet appointment, saying 'the President's standards are too high,'" adding, "The poor appointment itself is a problem, but such flattery, disconnected from the public's common sense, is an even bigger issue."

Chairman Song stated, "The unqualified five, including the 'bullying minister' Kang Seon-woo, the 'plagiarism minister' Lee Jin-sook, the 'coffee minister' Kwon Oh-eul, the 'road speculation minister' Jo Hyun, and the 'splitting minister' Jeong Dong-young, do not even deserve to be heard," and urged "President Lee Jae-myung to immediately withdraw the nomination of the unqualified five."

Kang Seon-woo is under suspicion of so-called 'aide bullying.' Lee Jin-sook is suspected of plagiarism of a student's thesis and so-called 'thesis splitting.' Kwon Oh-eul, the Minister of Veterans Affairs candidate, is suspected of receiving excessive pay for working at five and four companies in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Jo Hyun, the Minister of Foreign Affairs candidate, and Jeong Dong-young are facing allegations of real estate speculation. The ruling party and the individuals involved deny these allegations, calling them "one-sided claims by the People Power Party."

Chairman Song said, "In addition to this, there are more ministerial candidates who are feared to negatively impact the South Korea-U.S. alliance due to hypocrisy and conflicts of interest," and vowed to "thoroughly verify them with the public through this week's hearings."
