13 Cities and Provinces Including Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Sejong as of 3 PM on the 14th
[Financial News] The Korea Forest Service announced that as all heavy rain warnings have been lifted and rainfall has entered a lull, the alert level for 13 cities and provinces, including 'Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Sejong, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, Jeju', will be lowered from 'Caution' to 'Interest' as of 3 PM on the 14th. The Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas will maintain the 'Interest' level, while the Gangwon region will maintain the 'Caution' level.
However, as there is a possibility of a heavy rain warning being issued due to very strong rainfall of 30∼50mm per hour in the Gangwon region from the afternoon of the 14th to the morning of the 15th, the Gangwon region plans to maintain the 'Caution' alert level for the time being.
Although the heavy rain warning nationwide has been lifted, as a lot of rain has fallen centered on Jeonnam and Gyeongnam and more rain is forecasted in some areas, accompanied by gusts, thunder, and lightning, the Korea Forest Service plans to maintain a 24-hour situation duty system centered on the Landslide Prevention Support Center.
In addition, through emergency inspections and monitoring of landslide-prone areas, mountain use sites, large forest fire damage sites from this spring, and vulnerable areas and facilities in the forestry sector, they plan to check for any damage caused by this heavy rain and take emergency measures.
Choi Hyun-soo, head of the Landslide Prevention Division at the Korea Forest Service, said, "Although the landslide alert level is lowered to 'Interest' due to the lull in rainfall, the risk of landslides is high due to weakened ground from heavy rain," and added, "We ask that you refrain from entering areas at risk of landslides and quickly evacuate to designated shelters such as community centers in case of emergency."
