Announced Key Initiatives Such as Policies Befitting the Status of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs
[Financial News] Kang Yunjin, the new Vice Minister of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, expressed his ambition to ensure that special sacrifices for the country and its people are specially rewarded, and that the value of veterans can shine more than ever.
Vice Minister Kang started his official schedule by visiting the Seoul National Cemetery with heads of veterans' organizations without holding an inauguration ceremony.
On the 14th, Vice Minister Kang stated in his inaugural address distributed to the press, "I will constantly ask and answer from the perspective of the demand side, not the supplier, to find answers that national merit recipients and veterans' families can feel," emphasizing "I will not only remember and honor them to the best of my ability but also listen to their individual needs and provide tailored feedback."
Additionally, Vice Minister Kang said, "I will create a well-performing Ministry of Veterans Affairs in line with a well-performing government," and "I will reduce unnecessary work while minimizing problems and conflicts by meeting and communicating with policy demanders and listening to their voices."
He continued, "I will pursue policies befitting the status of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs," and "I will not only transform into a policy department rather than an execution department but also collaborate confidently with other ministries or local governments and actively communicate with the National Assembly and the media."
He added, "Although I couldn't imagine it when I started meeting veterans' families in 1999, I am truly honored to greet you as Vice Minister on this green summer day in 2025," and "I sincerely thank former Vice Minister Lee Heewan, who has worked hard for the development of veterans affairs over the past 1 year and 7 months, as a living hero of veterans."
Appointed by the presidential office the previous day, Vice Minister Kang entered public service through the 42nd administrative examination and has served as the head of the Daegu Regional Veterans Office, policy planning officer, veterans policy officer, and veterans organization cooperation officer.
