At 2:03 PM, a directive to detain was sent to the Seoul Detention Center Chief
[Financial News] The Rebellion and Treason Special Prosecutor Team (Cho Eun-seok, Special Prosecutor) attempts to detain former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who repeatedly refused to comply with the summons.
Park Ji-young, the Rebellion Special Prosecutor, announced at a press briefing on the 14th afternoon, "A directive was sent to the Seoul Detention Center Chief to cooperate in detaining the suspect, former President Yoon, by 3:30 PM today."
He continued, "During the detention period, attending investigations is a given in the criminal justice system," emphasizing, "While exercising the right to remain silent is the suspect's right, attending investigations during the detention period is not the suspect's right."
This is due to former President Yoon's repeated refusal to comply with the special prosecutor's investigation. The special prosecutor team notified former President Yoon to appear at the special prosecutor's office located at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office by 2 PM today, but former President Yoon did not appear at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office.
Regarding this, Special Prosecutor Park stated, "Even when former President Yoon did not appear last time, he submitted a non-appearance reason letter, but this time, there was no such procedure, and we confirmed with the Seoul Detention Center that at 12:40 PM today, through a prison officer, we confirmed his intention not to appear," explaining, "We waited until 2 PM to see if former President Yoon would come, and after confirming his non-appearance at 2 PM, we issued a detention directive at 2:03 PM."
Previously, on the afternoon of the 12th, the special prosecutor team also attempted to summon former President Yoon for investigation, but the investigation was canceled as former President Yoon expressed his intention to refuse to appear.
