Public and private sectors have joined hands to ensure the smooth distribution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Financial Services Commission, Korea Council of Mayors, Governors, and District Heads, and nine major card companies and financial institutions signed a business agreement at the Korea Local Finance Association on the 14th to cooperate for the smooth distribution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons starting from the 21st.
The first batch of livelihood recovery consumption coupons, which provide 150,000 to 550,000 won per person, can be applied for online or offline from 9 AM on the 21st until 6 PM on September 12th.
Recipients can choose to receive the coupons via credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or local currency.
Under this agreement, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will oversee the entire project, including planning, budget allocation, and the establishment of a business management system for the application and distribution process of the livelihood recovery consumption coupons.
Local governments will handle tasks such as securing payment methods, receiving and processing appeals, and managing execution and settlement.
Card companies, internet banks, fintech companies, and other financial institutions will distribute the livelihood recovery consumption coupons to the public via credit or debit cards.
Additionally, each institution will utilize the minimum necessary personal information within the scope required for the distribution of the livelihood recovery consumption coupons and will enter into a 'Personal Information Processing Commissioned Contract' to ensure safe processing and protection of personal information.
Sun Ki Han, Director of the Local Finance and Economy Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, "Cooperation and role-sharing among related institutions are crucial for the smooth distribution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons," and added, "The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will continue to communicate with local governments and private institutions to ensure that the livelihood recovery consumption coupons serve as a successful catalyst for the recovery of the people's economy."
