[Financial News] On the 14th, Tokyo Electric Power Company started the 13th marine discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
According to Kyodo News and local media in Fukushima, the discharge volume is the same as before, 7,800 tons, and the discharge end date is August 1st. Tokyo Electric Power plans to discharge the contaminated water 7 times in fiscal year 2025 (April 2025 to March 2026) to dispose of a total of 54,600 tons.
However, if high waves occur around the nuclear plant due to the influence of Typhoon No. 5 'Nari', which is expected to pass near the northeastern part of Honshu where Fukushima Prefecture is located, the discharge will be temporarily suspended.
Previously, Tokyo Electric Power started discharging contaminated water in August 2023 to decommission the accident nuclear plant. The total amount of contaminated water discharged so far is about 94,000 tons.
