National Planning Committee "Considering Strategies to Build Economic Growth Engines"
[Financial News] The National Planning Committee announced on the 14th that it met with six economic organizations to listen to and discuss strategies to respond to uncertain global environments and new industry innovations.
The National Planning Committee's Economic Division 2 held a 'Listening Session for Real Growth' with major economic organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Korean Industries, Korea International Trade Association, Korea Federation of SMEs, Korea Employers Federation, and the Korea Federation of Mid-sized Enterprises on the 10th.
The meeting was organized to listen to the voices of the economic field and discuss practical response strategies in the face of new challenges such as the AI technology revolution and climate crisis amid rising global uncertainties such as protectionism and nationalism.
Attending the meeting were Economic Division 2 Planning Commissioner Wi Seong-gon, Planning Commissioner Yoon Jun-byeong, and other members of the National Planning Committee, along with executives from major economic organizations.
Commissioner Wi emphasized, "We must prioritize national interests and unite the government and the economic sector as one team to achieve 'real growth'."
Commissioner Yoon stated, "We will create new growth engines for our economy, which is facing various changes and crises, and communicate and cooperate with the field to realize 'growth for all'."
The attending organizations shared various opinions related to △advanced technology competition △industrial crisis response △strengthening the corporate growth ladder amid the recent uncertain external environment.
Additionally, the economic sector proposed various policy tasks such as △creating initial demand for AI and upgrading manufacturing with AI utilization △expanding support for regulatory innovation and business restructuring △establishing a renewable energy ecosystem and innovating the entire power industry △diversifying export items and regions such as bio, defense, and aerospace △securing talent for local SMEs △supporting the creation of safe workplaces △strategic trade negotiation responses and global industrial cooperation △tailored support measures for each stage of corporate growth.
In response, Commissioner Wi said, "We will consider strategies to build the growth engines of our economy, such as innovating key industries using AI, discovering new growth engines, spreading renewable energy, and fostering regional industries and companies while safeguarding economic security."
Commissioner Yoon emphasized, "We will work together to create policies that allow our economy to grow with new technologies, lead the global market, and enable SMEs and small business owners to experience the realization of 'shared growth'."
